Therapy Services

The ARBOR program provides intensive, customized treatment for children with autism in both individual and small group settings. With long-term goals of improving a child’s language, play, motor, social, and cognitive skills, treatment targets are determined based on the child’s current level of functioning combined with the family’s goals and developmental principals. The program consists of 90 to 120-minute sessions, held three to four times per week, and follows school semesters.

Our clinicians incorporate evidence-based treatment methods with theme-based learning in motivating contexts to help children develop new skills and apply their learning across environments. Additionally, we collaborate with and teach parents, caregivers, educators, and other members of the care team to promote consistency in supporting progress throughout your child’s life.

Social communication opportunities for school-aged children and young adults with activities customized to their interests. Group activities will target pragmatic language concepts including sharing, turn taking, using eye contact, and following social rules, and may include collaborative building, art, cooking, vocational skills, video and/or board gaming, and storytelling. Participants will be encouraged to converse and solve social problems with peers in small groups while being provided with the support necessary to succeed.

Arbor Swims provides resources for water safety and swim lessons for children with autism. This program is billed through insurance as occupational therapy and services are provided by an Autism Swim Certified Provider, Certified Lifeguard, and Occupational Therapist specializing in autism treatment. It is appropriate for individuals 6 months to 17 years who need to address water safety skills, have sensory challenges, and want to learn how to swim.

Arbor Eats is an individually tailored treatment plan which includes progressive exposure to more food varieties.  A combination of interventions are used based on the individual to achieve the best results, which may include behavioral and sensory approaches. Collaboration is also emphasized throughout treatment to increase confidence and independence of the child and family for long-term success across all environments.
