Our individually tailored treatment plans will include progressive exposure to more food varieties. A combination of interventions are used based on the individual to achieve the best results, which may include behavioral and sensory approaches. Collaboration is also emphasized throughout treatment to increase confidence and independence of the child and family for long-term success across all environments.

We help with:

Picky eating
Concerns with swallowing foods
Difficulty with chewing foods
Transitioning to pureed or solid food
Problem behaviors associated with eating/mealtimes
Difficulty learning to eat with utensils
Challenges in transitioning away from bottles/using sippy, straw, or open cups for drinking

A feeding evaluation is completed to:

Evaluate all oral structures (lips, tongue, teeth, gums, palate) to identify areas impacting a child’s ability to eat or drink
Identifying oral motor skill challenges (coordination of skills)
Identifying any other concerns that need additional medical evaluation

Feeding therapy helps:

Support the child and family in navigating feeding challenges
Develop a thoughtful and individualized approach to each challenge
Coach the whole family, including siblings, extended family, and any other members involved in the child’s well-being
Increase food variety and decrease picky eating and challenging behaviors surrounding mealtime
Improve participation and enjoyment in family mealtime
